Lakers just put on an a** whoopin’ 4th quarter show, going on a 22-0 run midway through the decisive final quarter. Granted, it was the lowly Clips… but then again, they had their best lineup together for the first time this year, with B-Diddy, Camby man, Kaman, Cat, and Al Thornton in the lineup, with Ricky-D coming off the bench. But then again, they are still the Clippers…

Nonetheless, the forum blue and gold still rules this town. The way things are looking… they probably always will. WORD.

Highlights

UPDATE:

Some thoughts on the game:

  • Al Thornton is good. I mean really good. He’s got legitimate All-Star potential down the line, maybe in about 3-5 more years.
  • Bynum really does a good job altering shots. And Ariza has longer arms than I thought. Man, can that guy throw it down with AUTHORITY.
  • For one stretch of the game, the Lakers had Farmar, Sasha, Luke, Ariza (at PF!), and LO (at C!) in the lineup, and they pretty much held their own. What a luxury for a team to have cat quick players in Ariza and LO that aren’t super tall but has long arms and are super-atheltic enough to man the paint while the true bigs (Pau, Bynum) can take a breather.
  • Baron Davis looks thinner, in better shape. Hopefully that will keep him away from injuries and strain to his knees this season. What a beast of a PG.
  • Brian Skinner missed a dunk. Oh man. Wanna get away?
  • This happens every time I watch a Laker game, but when the heck did Kobe score 27pts? I didn’t even notice he had so much until I saw the box score! I thought Thornton had scored the most throughout the game, and he was the next highest scoring player behind Kobe, but with 22pts. Wow. A silent assassin.
  • All in all, an UGLY shooting game for both teams tonight, minus the Lakers’ decent showing in the 4th quarter. Both teams had open looks that they just clanged, over and over again. I don’t know how the Lakers managed to get over the 100pt mark… but hey, free Taco’s for everyone!

In college basketball news, UCLA opened its season on Monday with an easy win over Cal Baptist. The freshmen seem to look good… we’ll see when the Pac-10 season rolls in. I’m excited.
