WBC: JPN-KOR Tonight

Posted in Uncategorized by minoroots on 03/17/2009

Yu Darvish pitching tonight for team Japan. He’ll face Korea’s talented lefty, Bong Jung-keun. World Baseball Classic official website

This is the 3rd time in this tourney that Japan will meet Korea. Japan blew the game open in their first meeting, 14-2 (game called in the 7th inning per the mercy rule), but Korea held on to win a pitcher’s duel in the 2nd match up, 1-0.

There’s a lot of history and controversy between Japan & Korea’s WBC meetings, with Japan winning the inagural WBC despite Korea beating Japan in 2 out of 3 meetings last year. Japan lost twice to Korea in the qualifying rounds, but moved onto the Championship by defeating Korea in the semi-finals.

Ichiro, on facing Korea again tonight:

“It’s like a girl you said goodbye to, and then you bump into the same girl again on the street so many times, because there’s a destiny to meet again.

“We might as well get married if we are going to meet this frequently.”

Should be a great match up. May the best team win!

D’Antoni on Nate Robinson

Posted in Funny, Hoops by minoroots on 03/05/2009

New York Knicks Coach Mike D’Antoni’s quote from the NY Times:

Nate Robinson is still bothered by a sprained left ankle, which he injured in Saturday’s loss to Miami. “He just said he can’t go left,” Mike D’Antoni said. “I didn’t know if that was because of his ankle, or he just can’t go left.”

"Develop your left hand, son!"

Hahaha.
